Did You Know - Pete started playing slide guitar when punter threw beer bottles at the band he was playing in, not to be one for letting sleeping bottle lie, tried to throw them back at the audience, but one broke leaving the bottle neck on his finger, not being able to get it off Petes bottle slides were invented, and he now visits "dives" just to collect them to sell to unsuspecting punters.
Pete Tindal has become one of the most widely recognised exponents of the slide guitar. (he paid us to write this).
Originally from Australia, Pete was one of the founding members of the sixties group, ‘The Cherokees’ – a band which enjoyed continued chart success throughout one of the most important periods of rock music.
Pete Tindal began performing in Melbourne Australia in 1959 with a band called "Captain Cook and The Colonials".. which lasted one gig.. HE then moved to "The Scorpions" who recorded a single and did a load of gigs all over the state as well as the Sunday afternoon Festival Hall gigs in Melbourne..
Pete Got a call to join "The Cherokees" who had a lot of chart success during the crazy sixties but they disbanded in 1969.. which was a bad idea but at the time it was all they could do with no record deal and bad management.
Now he is in demand as a slide player and a composer of film and TV music. He has played with and supported world class acts such as Edgar Winter, The Saints, The Zydeco Kings and Australia’s Tommy Emanuel, to name but a few, and has played all of the slide guitar music for the Jason Donovan film, ‘The Silver Brumby’.
Rattlebone Music Products are manufacturing a range of Pete Tindal guitar slides and instructional books, videos and backing tapes. Pete Tindal’s slide guitar products are in all good music stores around the world.
